Smart Key Fob Replacement in Manhattan, KS

Vehicle-specific replacement and programming for many push-to-start smart keys, integrated fobs and remote keys, including the concealed emergency blade when equipped.

ID and proof of ownership are required for key origination and programming.

Modern vehicle “fobs” can contain several systems in one housing: remote buttons, an immobilizer identity, a proximity transmitter and a concealed metal blade. A complete replacement must match the vehicle electronically and mechanically.

Smart key and fob styles serviced

Proximity smart keys

Push-to-start fobs for many domestic, Asian and European vehicles, including passive-entry systems where the key stays in a pocket or bag.

FOBIK keys

Integrated keys commonly used on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and related applications, with remote functions and a vehicle-specific transponder system.

Flip and remote-head keys

Folding or fixed blades with integrated remote buttons and immobilizer chips.

Remote-only and emergency blades

Replacement or setup of applicable remote functions, along with cut backup blades for smart-key entry where supported.

What must match before programming

A smart fob that looks right can still be wrong. Compatibility can depend on the exact OEM part number, FCC identifier, frequency, board revision, button count, transponder type, region and whether the vehicle has remote start, power liftgate or another trim-specific feature.

IdentifierWhy it matters
VIN and production dataSeparates key systems used within the same year or model and helps identify factory-equipped options.
Part number / FCC IDHelps verify electronics, radio frequency and application family; a visual match alone is unreliable.
Button layoutCan indicate feature differences, but matching buttons do not guarantee matching electronics.
New, used or renewed conditionSome fobs can only be enrolled when new or correctly unlocked from the previous vehicle.
Emergency bladeMust use the correct keyway and cut so the mechanical backup entry actually works.

Replacement, programming and testing

Confirm the exact fob

Vehicle data and visible identifiers are used to select the compatible key and avoid expensive incorrect parts.

Access the security system

The enrollment method may use direct diagnostic programming, a secure online process or additional module-level steps.

Cut the backup blade

Where the smart fob contains an emergency blade, it is cut and checked for mechanical entry.

Test all equipped functions

Starting, proximity detection, lock/unlock, trunk or liftgate, panic and remote start are checked when applicable.

When a fob problem may be something else

A weak vehicle battery, blown fuse, damaged receiver antenna, water intrusion, failed door-handle sensor, module fault or aftermarket electrical modification can mimic a bad key. If multiple known-good keys behave the same way, diagnosis may be needed before another fob is purchased.

Do not discard the old fob. Even if the shell or buttons are damaged, its identifiers and internal electronics may help confirm the correct replacement or reveal that only the housing needs attention.

Common questions

Vehicle key questions answered

What is the difference between a smart key and a key fob?

The terms overlap. A proximity smart key usually allows passive entry and push-button starting while the fob remains nearby. A remote key may only operate buttons and still require a blade or insertion into an ignition.

Can a used smart key be programmed to another vehicle?

Sometimes, but many used smart keys remain locked to the first vehicle and must be properly renewed, reset or replaced. Compatibility and unlockability must be confirmed before service.

Does the emergency blade come with the fob?

A blank emergency blade may be included with some replacement fobs, but it still needs to be correctly cut. Other fobs require the blade to be ordered separately.

Why does my car say key not detected?

Common causes include a weak fob battery, damaged electronics, incorrect or unprogrammed key, antenna or vehicle battery issues, or an immobilizer fault. A key-not-detected message does not automatically prove that the fob is the only failed part.
