Broad coverage, confirmed vehicle by vehicle

Vehicle Key Coverage by Make and Key Type

Ask about nearly any mainstream vehicle and many specialty applications. Exact support is confirmed by VIN, key situation, immobilizer generation and manufacturer access.

ID and proof of ownership are required for key origination and programming.

Lock and Road Locksmith supports vehicle keys across a broad range of domestic, Asian and European manufacturers. The list below is a starting point—not a claim that every vehicle in every market uses an accessible system.

Why VIN confirmation comes before a promise

A year/make/model lookup can still return multiple possible keys. The VIN, production data and ignition configuration help distinguish the correct system. Other factors include the current software level, previous module replacement, regional import status and whether a used key has been locked to another vehicle.

Coverage factorHow it affects service
Model year and production dateA mid-year change can introduce a different key, transponder or security procedure.
Trim and ignition optionPush-button start and keyed ignition versions of the same model may use entirely different parts.
All keys lost vs. add-a-keySecurity access and programming steps can change when no authorized key remains.
Domestic vs. imported configurationFrequency, part numbers and immobilizer variants may differ by market.
Manufacturer access policySome data and programming routes are available to qualified locksmiths; others are controlled by the manufacturer or dealer network.

Mercedes-Benz and other restricted situations

Some Mercedes-Benz and other luxury applications may require a dealer-ordered key or a manufacturer-controlled process that is not available through ordinary locksmith security access. Other Mercedes, Sprinter or European work may be possible depending on the exact system and job type. The answer must be determined vehicle by vehicle.

When the only legitimate solution is an authorized dealer, Lock and Road Locksmith can still help identify the route and may coordinate towing so the vehicle reaches the required service location. See dealer-restricted vehicle keys.

Common questions

Vehicle key questions answered

Do you really cover every make and model?

Coverage is broad but not universal. Support depends on the exact year, model, security generation, regional configuration, parts availability and manufacturer access rules. The VIN is checked before service is confirmed.

Why can two vehicles of the same year use different keys?

Manufacturers can change key systems by trim, production date, factory option, ignition style, market or mid-year update. Visual similarity is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Do you work on luxury and European vehicles?

Many Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo and other European applications are supported, but these systems often require more vehicle-specific research or module work. Some configurations remain manufacturer-restricted.

Can you service a vehicle not listed on this page?

Possibly. The list summarizes common makes and is not an exhaustive capability database. Send the exact year, make, model and VIN details for a direct answer.
